The Rwandese champions’ decision to make a big splash in the race has set the stage for a fierce rivalry with Vipers SC, who had initially earmarked Kayiwa as their top transfer target for the upcoming season.

Rwandan football giants, APR, have entered the fray in pursuit of the highly sought-after Express FC star, Allan Kayiwa.

The Rwandese champions’ decision to make a big splash in the race has set the stage for a fierce rivalry with Vipers SC, who had initially earmarked Kayiwa as their top transfer target for the upcoming season.

The forward, once considered surplus to requirements at Vipers, has experienced a remarkable resurgence at Express, culminating in him clinching the golden boot in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

His outstanding performances have caught the attention of several clubs, with Vipers SC wasting no time in expressing their desire to bring him back to their fold.

Lawrence Mulindwa, the president of Vipers SC, has long held Kayiwa in high regard and remains keen on his return to the St. Mary's Stadium in Kitende.

Nevertheless, APR's entrance as a serious contender adds a new level of complexity to the situation, compelling Vipers SC to up their efforts to reclaim their former outcast.

While Vipers SC is fuelled by their ambition to compete at the highest level, particularly in the prestigious CAF Champions League.

Their pursuit of Kayiwa serves as a testament to their commitment to strengthening the squad and vying for top honours in the forthcoming season.

Apart from the intense competition between Vipers SC and APR, other clubs have also thrown their hats into the ring for Kayiwa's signature.

URA FC and SC Villa have expressed their preparedness to enter the race, further heightening the excitement surrounding the transfer saga.

Kayiwa's resurgence at Express FC can be likened to a phoenix rising from the ashes.

After an acrimonious departure from Vipers last season, the forward has repaid the faith shown in him by coach James Odoch.

Initially finding his footing as a wide forward, Kayiwa's fortunes took a positive turn when he was deployed just behind the striker, granting him the freedom to roam and exploit spaces on the field.

This tactical adjustment proved instrumental as he embarked on a prolific goal-scoring spree.

Throughout the season, Kayiwa has grown in stature and delivered crucial goals for the Red Eagles, concluding the campaign with an impressive record of 13 goals in 28 games.

His contributions were pivotal in helping the seven-time league champions secure a respectable 10th-place finish.
