Arsenal secured a vital three points at home against French side Monaco in the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners head into the game following a 1-1 draw against Fulham in the Premier League at the weekend.

However, despite their below-par performance, they were able to get the job done, defeating Monaco 3-0 on the night.

As it happened

Mikel Arteta was able to start a strong team in spite of the discussions surrounding Arsenal's injury issues.

Jurrien Timber, who missed yesterday's early training, was on the bench, with Thomas Partey starting.

Arsenal started the game brightly, but it took until the 34th minute before they got their first goal after Gabriel Jesus missed two big chances.

Myles Lewis-Skelly superbly got away from a challenge and then played a ball wide left to Jesus before he delivered a low cross into Bukayo Saka’s path to tap into an empty net.

The Gunners had the chance to be 4-0 up before halftime, but missing four big chances left them with just 1-0 at the break.

The Gunners entered the fray for the second half but were not convincing with the ball as Monaco dominated the game.

However, Arteta’s men had to depend on a mistake from the goalkeeper, which Saka pounced on to score his second goal of the game.

Arsenal rounded the game up with their third goal after a strike from Saka hit Havertz and went into the net.
