The game started with West Ham looking threatening, which later paid off. Liverpool failed to clear a corner and Kostas Tsimikas kicked the ball, which deflected off Jarell Quansah into the net.
Liverpool pushed forward and got the equaliser immediately when Cody Gakpo swung in a cross from the left, which found Federico Chiesa.

Liverpool added the fourth and fifth goals from a Darwin Nunez rebound and Cody Gakpo’s effort from the edge of the box that deflected into the net.
The game ended 5-1 in favour of Liverpool as they handed West Ham a heavy defeat in the Carabao Cup.
