Liverpool secured an important victory against Southampton and went eight points clear off Manchester City in the title race.
The Reds headed into the game looking to increase their point lead on the Premier League table; however, they had to do it the hard way.
Paul Onuachu, who has had his playing time limited at Southampton, was given the nod by his manager to lead the Saint’s attack.
However, he was unable to finish the game and was substituted after sustaining an injury, with Liverpool going on to win the game 3-2.

Southampton boss Russell Martin made five changes to the side that lost to Wolves before the international break, with Paul Onuachu starting in attack.
Arne Slot, on the other hand, made three changes to the Liverpool side that defeated Aston Villa 2-0 last time out.
Liverpool started the game on the front foot and created many chances but had to wait till the 30th minute before scoring the opening goal.
Alex McCarthy rolled the ball to Mateus Fernandes on the edge of the box, who was immediately dispossessed. The ball then fell to Flynn Downes, who hit a wayward pass to Dominik Szoboszlai, curling the ball into the top corner.
Just 10 minutes after Liverpool’s goal, Southampton pushed forward and were rewarded with a penalty kick. Tyler Dibling was tripped by Andy Robertson and the referee pointed to the spot which was confirmed by VAR.
Adam Armstrong’s penalty was well saved by Caoimhin Kelleher, but the ball rebounded straight to the striker, who tucked it into the net.
Southampton came into the second half with the same intensity as the first half and took the lead. Right from a Liverpool corner kick, the Saints scored using a counterattack.
Ryan Fraser, Tyler Dibling and Adam Armstrong combined to tee up Mateus Fernandes, who strokes home into the corner with Caoimhin Kelleher unmoved.
Liverpool pushed forward and got the equaliser after Southampton's goalkeeper sprinted out to try and intercept Ryan Gravenberch's ball over the top, but Mohamed Salah got there first, playing the ball into an open net.
The Reds held on till the final whistle and are not far ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League.
