Liverpool were no match for Italian side Bologna as they defeated the newcomers in their second Champions League game.

The Reds came into the game off a 2-1 win against Wolves in the Premier League at the weekend.

Erne Slot’s side did a good job seeing off Bologna in a 2-0 win at Anfield, which comes as their second victory in their first two UCL games.

A first-half goal from Alexis Mac Allister and a second-half curl from Mohamed Salah sealed the victory for the home side.

As it happened

There is only one change from the Liverpool team that defeated Wolves 2-1. Darwin Nunez, who was unable to play due to sickness, is back, while Diogo Jota is on the bench.

Bologna made four changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Atalanta, with starts for Juan Miranda, Nikola Moro, Kacper Urbanski and Thijs Dallinga, while former Nottingham Forest midfielder Remo Freuler also plays.

The Reds took their 1-0 lead into halftime, having been the best team on the night. The second half started and it took until the 72nd minute before Liverpool got the second goal.

Mohamed Salah received the ball on the edge of the box, skipped past Juan Miranda and then thundered a fine strike into the net.
