The Sugar Millers coach clarifies contract status, dismisses transfer speculations, and addresses potential player departures

Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Salim Babu has debunked all rumors regarding his departure from the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side.

Babu addressed speculations linking him to various teams, including Bandari, Kenya Police FC, AFC Leopards, and KCB, asserting that he is still under contract at the Sugar Millers.

"I want to say that I am still under contract at Nzoia Sugar," Babu affirmed, putting an end to the swirling rumors surrounding his potential move.

His commitment to the club signifies his dedication to building on their achievements and aiming for further success.

Addressing the reports about the possible departure of goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi and striker Joseph Mwangi, Babu reassured fans that the club would cope well with any player movements.

"Losing one or two players will not be an issue for Nzoia," he stated confidently.

The coach noted that Nzoia's policy of recruiting young talents directly from schools in Western Kenya ensures a steady stream of potential replacements.

Nzoia Sugar had an impressive season, securing a commendable fourth-place finish with 64 points, tying with Police FC, who finished third due to a superior goal difference.

The team displayed consistency throughout the majority of the season, only to see their title hopes slip away in the final stages as Gor Mahia clinched the championship, closely followed by runners-up Tusker FC.

Salim Babu joined Nzoia Sugar FC in January 2022, signing a long-term contract after his tenure with Kisumu All Stars.

Since his arrival, Babu has played a crucial role in shaping the team's performance and fostering a winning mentality.

His commitment to the club's long-term vision has been evident, and his presence has greatly contributed to the team's success.

Nzoia Sugar are expected to start its pre-season training session on July 17 at the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.
