The Uyo Township Stadium becomes the third functional football facility in the Southern state, after the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and the Eket Stadium.
Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday, commissioned the use of a refurbished 20000-seater stadium, raising the number of functional football facilities in the state to three.
The Southern Nigeria state at the moment, boasts of arguably the best stadium in the country, so much that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) recently approved it - the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo - as the only facility fit enough to host the Super Eagles in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
