The President of Senegal has confirmed that Sadio Mane will not be at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
President of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall has reacted to the news of Sadio Mane's injury.
President Sall has wished the Teranga Lions' 'lionheart' a speedy recovery following his injury on Tuesday night.
Mane is set to miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar this winter after he limped off against Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena.
Reacting to the report that the 30-year-old has been ruled out of the football fiesta, the President sent his best wishes to the 2021 AFCON hero.
"Sadio, I wish you a speedy recovery from your injury in the Bayern-Werder Bremen game," the President said on a tweet on his social media account.
"As I told you: Sadio, Lionheart! With all my heart with you! God bless you," he added.
Senegal suffers big blow
As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, Mane will miss the global showpiece in Qatar due the unfortunate injury.
Mane injured his tendon during Bayern Munich's 6-1 demolition of Werder Bremen on Tuesday night per L'equipe.
According to the French outlet, the former man has been ruled out of the Qatar party.
"This is a hard blow for the Senegalese selection. Sadio Mané will not play in the World Cup (20 November - 18 December)," the French media outlet noted.
"The former Liverpool player is actually suffering from a tendon and is expected to miss several weeks of competition," the outlet added.
With Mane set to miss the tournament which kicks off in less than 12 days, Senegal manager, Aliou Cisse will reveal his World Cup sqaud without their lionheart this Friday.
