Napoli breezed past Torino to maintain their lead margin, as Osimhen becomes the highest-scoring Nigerian in a single Serie A season.
Napoli were dominant as they were ruthless in a one-sided 4-0 victory over Torino. II Partenopei's Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen powered the victory with his goals as he made his way into the history books.
Napoli hosted Torino at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, as they looked to continue their march onto the title. It proved to be a routine win for Luciano Spaletti's side who put four past their guests.
How it happened
Napoli were going to be ruthless on the night, and they gave the warnings early on, with their speed out of the gate rewarded with a 9th-minute lead.
Victory Osimhen leapt highest, connecting to a Piotr Zielinski cross to give II Partenopei the lead.
Torino got their heads into the game and started to threaten Napoli's lead. They came close when Nikola Vlasic fired a low shot that was saved by Alex Meret.
They continued to threaten an equaliser, with Samuele Ricci and Antonio Sanabria both getting chances to score, but Meret was up to the task.
Napoli wrestled back control and soon punished Napoli's profligacy when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia won a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. Khvicha stepped up to take the spot kick and made no mistake as he coolly finished past Millinkovic-Savic.
The second-half started as the first did, with Napoli dominating and scoring an early goal.
Mathias Oliveira delivered a delightful cross to Osimhen, who rose majestically to head Napoli 3-0 up.
It quickly became four in the 68th minute; this time Tanguy Ndombele was the scorer, getting on the end of a Kvaratskhelia.
Torino were broken, and Napoli were relentless as they tried to increase their margin, but it was not to be.
Napoli temporarily extended their lead at the top of the Serie A to 21 points, while Torino saw their goal difference take a hit in a tight mid-table position.
