Rome-based club Lazio have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign a Super Eagles midfielder.

Serie A side Lazio have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Turkish side Hatayspor for Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele Bashiru.

The 23-year-old British-Nigerian only recently joined the Super Lig side last summer on a free transfer and his impressive performance in one season has put him on the radar of top clubs.

Fisayo’s impressive campaign

Despite only joining last summer, Fisayo immediately became an important member of Ozhan Pulat’s side, starting 34 of the 36 league games he played during the season.

The attacking midfielder scored nine goals and six assists in 39 games in all competitions, the most for any player in the squad.

His performance earned him his first Super Eagles call-up for the CAF World Cup qualifiers and he impressed in his first and only game so far, scoring the crucial equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Uyo against South Africa.

Lazio negotiate for Fisayo

According to a report from Brilla FM, Lazio and Hatayspor have reached an agreement in principle for Fisayo's transfers; however, the deal is contingent on the new manager of the Rome-based club, Marco Baroni, signing off.

Per the report, Lazio will have to shell out around €8 million to complete the deal, a sizable amount for the Italian side given the financial landscape of the Serie A.

Should the move come to fruition, Fisayo will be following in the footsteps of former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, who donned the Lazio shirt from 2011 until 2016, when he joined Trabzonspor.
