Olofinjana's football journey began in Nigeria, where he played for local clubs while studying to earn a chemical engineering degree at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomosho.

When asked how he managed to pull off combining being a professional footballer with being a student, he had this to say.

"It was a very difficult thing combining professional football with academics, but I was lucky and privileged because the two clubs I played for while in Nigeria weren't so far away from my school," he told Family United by Football (FUBF).

After earning his degree, he focused solely on football, and his impressive performances caught the eye of European scouts, leading to a move to an international move.

His performances in Nigeria earned his national team call-up, and he was part of the Super Eagles side at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.

After a successful career that took him to Norway and England, Olofinjana retired from professional football in 2014 and transitioned into coaching and football administration. 

He held various roles at Wolverhampton Wanderers, including academy coach and loan pathway manager. In 2021, he was appointed as the sporting director of Swiss club Grasshopper Club Zurich.   

In a recent development, Olofinjana was appointed the head of scouting operations for Chelsea FC in Africa. This role will involve identifying and nurturing young African talent for the Premier League club.

In 2021, Olofinjana took on a more prominent role as the Sporting Director of Grasshopper Club Zurich. He was tasked with overseeing the club's sporting operations, including player recruitment, transfers, and team performance. However, his tenure at Grasshopper was relatively short-lived, as he resigned from the position in 2022.   

More recently, Olofinjana was appointed as the Head of Scouting Operations for Africa at Chelsea Football Club.
