Shabana star will miss the crucial Premier League clash against Bandari due to a knee injury sustained recently.

Shabana FC have been dealt a significant blow as defensive midfielder Peter Ogechi has been sidelined for the anticipated Football Kenya Federation Premier League clash with Bandari FC this Sunday.

Ogechi, who has been pivotal in Shabana's midfield, sustained a knee injury during a recent match against Ulinzi Stars and subsequently missed their following game against Gor Mahia.

The absence of their influential captain was palpable as Shabana succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat in that outing.

"Ogechi will not be available for the match against Bandari FC because he is nursing an injury. Otherwise, he is the only concern among the group that has arrived in Mombasa and is training ahead of the match," Shabana spokesperson Cyrus Odanya told Pulse Sports.

Ogechi was taken off as a precaution during the halftime against Ulinzi Stars, and the medical team is carefully managing his rehabilitation.

His contributions on the pitch have been significant, particularly given his scoring prowess that propelled Shabana to the top-flight league after a 17-year hiatus.

Fans and analysts alike have pointed out Ogechi's role as not just a player but a strategic point of their formation. "Ogechi isn't just a player who puts the ball in the net; he's a leader who brings a sense of cohesion and confidence to the team," explained George Mugeni, a local football analyst.

Currently, Shabana FC occupies the 17th slot on the league table with a tally of seven points from nine matches, a standing that reflects their struggle in the premier league this season.

The match against Bandari, sitting at the eight position with 13 points, is considered critical for Shabana to gain some ground and avoid slipping further into the relegation zone.

The team's spirit remains high, and preparations are underway as they aim to turn the tide in at Mbaraki Stadium in the coastal city of Mombasa.

Despite the setback, the club's management and fans are rallying behind the team, emphasizing the 'next man up' philosophy.

Shabana's resilience will be put to the test as they face a Bandari side that has been somewhat inconsistent but shown flashes of brilliance this season.
