NSL Murang’a Seal hunt down Shabana in race for premier league promotion
Murang'a are seven points behind Shabana with two games in hand.
Shabana kept on track to win the title with a 3-2 victory over Mara Sugar on Sunday, thanks to Abisolom Aduda's winning goal in the match's closing stages.
The Kisii-based have lost only four matches this season and have claimed 15 wins, three draws and four losses from 22 fixtures. They also boast the best defensive record, with only 11 goals conceded.
Sammy Okoth, the Shabana FC coach, expects Mwatate to put up a big fight, and he knows his charges will have to turn up the heat if they have to deny their hosts.
“Mwatate are a good side; we don’t want to underrate them. We shall approach the game better than in the last game against Mara Sugar. As I said earlier, all our remaining matches are like finals, so we are going for victory,” Okoth told reporters.
Meanwhile, Mwatate United are looking to cause an upset as they aim for the tenth spot on the table.

Mwatate currently occupies the 13th position in the standings but could leap up to tenth if they beat Shabana.
Omar Baraka's charges come into the match from an impressive 4-1 win over Kibera Black Stars last Saturday.
The last time these two sides met was on January 11 when Shabana won 5-0 at Simeon Nyachae Stadium in Kisii.

FOOTBALL NSL: Mwatate annihilate Vihiga as Naivas boost promotion charge
Four matches were staged on Monday across the country.
Mombasa Elite is coming off a loss to Migori Youth and a win over Gusii FC in their last two league matches.
On the other hand, the Hawks defeated SS Assad at home last weekend in a win that snapped their four-game losing run in the league.
Looking at the league table, Mombasa Elite are placed eighth with 29 points from 21 games and are looking to keep their hopes of finishing in the top three alive.
Darajani Gogo will be looking to collect maximum points and move up on the log standings as they are placed sixth on the table with 31 points from 21 matches.
When the teams met earlier this season, at Camp Toyoyo on January 11, Gogo emerged 3-1 winners.
Elsewhere, SS Assad will be looking to humble Mully Children’s Family at Shamu Grounds in Ukunda. The clash promises to be a quality affair with two sides who play an exciting brand of football involved.
Mully Children’s Family will be chasing a third straight win after beating Silibwet 2-0 at home last weekend. However, they must still be wary of Assad's attacking prowess.
Forward Nyawai Beja is one of the league’s top scorers with 12 goals, and if any team knows the danger he poses, it will be the Machakos-based side.
But going into the clash on Friday, MCF will consider themselves clear favourites as they have never lost to Assad.
In three previous meetings, MCF has recorded three victories, and it was only in March 2022 that Assad scored against them, with Beja netting a brace.
