Shabana FC struggled in a critical FKF Premier League match drawing against FC Talanta, further complicating their relegation battle.

Shabana FC failed to ease their relegation woes as they played to a 1-1 draw against FC Talanta in an FKF Premier League match at Raila Odinga Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The draw sees them drop to third from bottom on the league table with 19 points from 30 matches, and with four games to go, they are in real danger of receiving the axe from the Kenyan top flight.

Talanta are not much better off with the draw moving them into 14th place on the table with 31 points from the same number of matches, only three points clear of the 17th-placed team on the log.

Shabana offered the first threat on goal in just the second minute, with a Mathew Tegesi shot from the edge of the box deflecting off a Talanta defender and forcing the goalkeeper into a sharp save.

The Glamour Boys bossed most of the first half hour, though clear chances were hard to come by. The best saw Alvin Ochieng play a clever pass in behind the Talanta defense for Brian Michira, but the striker sent a low effort wide of Wakasala's left-hand upright.

Ezekiah Omuri was lively down the right flank for Shabana but missed out on a chance to put his side in the lead on 35 minutes when he exchanged passes with Matthew Tegesi before firing wide from a tight angle with only the goalkeeper to beat.

The visitors came close to finding the opener in the 40th minute but Alex Juma’s long-range effort sailed inches over the target.

The interval arrived with the score still locked at 0-0.

The start of the second half saw Talanta taking control and they opened they found the back of the net in the 51st minute to the disappointment of fans.

Shabana nearly found the equalizer five minutes later when a shot from Llyod Kavuchi was parried to safety by goalkeeper Wakasala.

The Glamour Boys kept up the pressure in attack but were able to find a way through in the 61st minute through Mathew Tegesi to make it 1-1.

Enock Agwanda and Brian Magare were brought on as substitutes for Shabana as Tore Bobe looked for options to spark them into attack to try and find a winning goal.

And they came close to netting in the 76th minute when, from a corner taken by Mark Okola, Dimpol Omamo’s headed attempt hit the bar.

A few half chances on either end of the field brought to a close a disappointing second-half performance by both sides with very little to write home about.
