Shabana fans had flocked Gusii Stadium excited to witness their side take on Posta Rangers on Saturday, only for the match to be called off with the officials raising concern over the ground's security status.

FKF Premier League outfit Shabana have issued an apology to their supporters after their clash against Posta Rangers was called off due to security concerns.

The Gusii-based side were making the long awaited return to their historical home stadium but fate would not have it so.

The match was delayed for over an hour with the match officials sighting concern for their security.

The club has since come out to issue an apology to their supporters for the incident through their X account.

"So sorry to our fans about yesterday's called off game, we know what you are going through and we take responsibility. There are still a lot of games to play and we promise to give you happiness and joy we need to stick together, maintain calm and be ambassadors of this beautiful game," read the tweet from the team's official X account.

Shabana have been on the news recently for all the wrong reasons after the Gusii were handed a five-match ban following the unrest that took place during their fixture with Ulinzi the previous week.

Ulinzi's late equalizer saw the Ulinzi Sports complex erupt into chaos with supporters uprooting seats, prompting Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to ragulate over the matter.

FKF's ruling slapped Shabana with a five-match ban as well as responsibity of compensation for the vandalism at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Shabana however appealed the decision and were allowed to fill Gusii stadium for their match against Posta Rangers which did not take place.
