There was no double delight for Shabana as the club collected one of their lowest amounts from gate collections despite hammering Sofapaka 4-1 in Homa Bay
A huge number of Shabana FC fans missed the chance to watch their team record the biggest win of their top-flight campaign as only 1,227 turned up at Raila Odinga Stadium for Saturday’s 4-1 victory against Sofapaka.
Shabana put Batoto ba Mungu to the sword to end their three-match winless run but continued to collect little money from gate collections which points to fan apathy following their recent struggles.
From the 1,227 fans, 490 purchased the VIP tickets, which were retailing at Ksh300, while 737 snapped up the regular ones, going for Ksh100 each.

FOOTBALL Shabana record biggest league victory of the season to end three-game winless run as KCB & Bandari close in on Gor Mahia
Shabana put on a stellar show to thrash Sofapaka in Homa Bay as they ended a run of three games without a win while KCB silenced Kenya Police as Bandari added to Murang’a Seal’s woes.
That means Shabana realised Ksh147,000 from VIP ticket sales added to Ksh73,700 from regular, bringing the total to Ksh220,700 which is just Ksh14,000 more than what they collected from their last home match on December 2 when they drew 1-1 with KCB.
The amounts are a far cry from the over Ksh400,000 Shabana were collecting from home matches earlier in the season and it seems the excitement has died down among fans who have endured tough times in the course of the campaign.
Saturday’s win was just the third victory for Shabana who have lost seven games while drawing five and that seems to have hit the club’s coffers hard.
It means Shabana players have to build on from Saturday’s result to get the fans back into the stadium given Tore Bobe are one of the most followed clubs in the country.
Ezekiel Omuri and Brian Michira gave Shabana a 2-0 halftime lead before Wycliffe Mutua and Nehemiah 'Neymar' Onchiri added further gloss on the score line to give the Glamour Boys the huge victory.
The win, which ended a run of back-to-back defeats, lifted Shabana 13th on the log with 14 points, same as Sofapaka, but with a superior goal difference.
