Shabana FC aims to end winless streak against Tusker FC, as both teams seek victory in an eagerly awaited league clash.

After enduring a lackluster start to the 2023/24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKPL) campaign, Shabana FC is determined to rekindle their glory days as they face the twelve-time champions, Tusker FC, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The Glamour Boys are yet to secure their maiden league win this season, and this clash with Tusker presents an opportunity to shift the tides.

Shabana's recent form has been marked by a series of draws, including their most recent 1-1 stalemate against AFC Leopards at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.

The stalemate added to their growing sense of disappointment, leaving coach Sammy Okoth searching for answers.

"Every time, we always create chances but never take advantage. If we can defend well, considering we have spent a lot of time working on how not to concede often, we have to see how we can also score," he said.

"In all the games we have played, we have created chances but not capitalized on them. We are working on it and hope it will improve gradually," Okoth added.

Shabana will heavily rely on their midfield dynamo, Peter Ongechi, in their quest for goals, while striker Isaac Otieno will be expected to provide the attacking firepower.

On the other hand, Tusker FC enters the contest fresh off a goalless draw against FC Talanta in an away match at their Ruaraka Stadium.

In that game, James Mwangi and Staphan Siwa squandered several scoring opportunities, leaving room for improvement in their attacking efficiency.

Tusker boasts a favorable report card in the five league games played so far, having secured two victories and suffered just one defeat. Their defense has been rock-solid, conceding only three goals while scoring consistently.

Eric Kapaito, James Mwangi, and Deogratious Ojok will be tasked with spearheading the hunt for goals, with one of them likely to start from the bench.

This match marks the first encounter between these two sides in 17 years, as Shabana recently made their return to the league this season.

The pressure is undoubtedly mounting on Shabana FC to secure their first league win of the season. Their inability to convert chances into goals has been a recurring theme in their campaign so far.

Tusker FC, meanwhile, will be eager to capitalize on Shabana's struggles. Their solid defensive record and a trio of capable goal-scorers give them a well-rounded approach.
