Shabana FC collected a substantial amount of money from gate charges from their match against Posta Rangers which was called off in unclear circumstances.
Shabana made over Ksh1.5 million from their aborted match against Posta Rangers on Saturday.
Tore Bobe saw their match called off at the Gusii Stadium following conflicting reports on what exactly led to the cancellation.
It was initially reported that the match was called off due to security concerns raised by referees before the game but Football Kenya Federation later issued a statement saying the match officials ‘disappeared’ before kickoff despite attending a pre-match meeting.
The confusion led to a delay of over one hour before the match was called off to the disappointment of fans who had thronged the Gusii Stadium.
It was supposed to be the first match at the refurbished Gusii Stadium in over a year and Shabana fans had heeded to calls to turn up in large numbers, filling the venue way before the kick off time.
Although the club did not reveal the number of tickets sold, the club announced that a total of Ksh1,531,000 was made from gate collections, a massive amount given the figures posted previously.

Shabana FC was thrust into the spotlight once against after the club’s league match against Posta Rangers at Gusii Stadium was called off by match officials due to fears over their safety.
Shabana will hope that fans continue turning up in large numbers in their subsequent matches to boost the club’s coffers after earning a temporarily reprieve this week.
The club had been handed a five-match ban by FKF over the chaos witnessed at Ulinzi Complex last week, when property was destroyed and two security officers injured, but the decision was appealed at the Sports Disputes Tribunal which suspended the ban.
