Shabana have appointed new team captains a day after sacking coach Sammy Okoth following a string of poor results

Shabana FC have made changes to the team’s leadership a day after parting ways with head coach Sammy Okoth.

Tore Bobe have dropped Peter ‘Maestro’ Ogechi and Bernard Otieno as the team’s captains and handed over the armband to George Orako Onyango who will be assisted by Justine Omwando and Rodgers Aloro on an interim basis.

Shabana are reorganising the team in the wake of Okoth’s sacking following a string of poor results that have left them second from bottom on the league table with only goal difference separating them with basement side Sofapaka.

Oscar Kambona, Okoth’s assistant, is leading the team on interim basis, as they search for a permanent replacement and he will now work with a new leadership within the squad.

It is not known yet why Ogechi and Otieno have been dropped but the Glamour Boys will be expecting the new captains to lead from the front.

While Ogechi has been a mainstay at Shabana, playing a key role in their promotion, Orako and Aloro are among the new signings who joined the club in the off-season.

They, however, possess great experience with Aloro having turned out for Bandari and the club is perhaps hoping to tap into this.

Shabana players will need to rise to the occasion to save their season from ending early starting with Saturday’s home match against equally struggling Nzoia Sugar.
