Nigeria Super Falcons icon Asisat Oshoala is Africa's most celebrated star after winning the Player of the Year a record six times.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has hailed Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala as the true constant in African football after the Super Falcons icon missed the chance to add to a record-breaking sixth Player of the Year award.

At just 28 years old, Oshoala has cemented her status as the most decorated African women's player of all time, having won the prestigious CAF award a staggering six times.

This feat is truly unmatched, with the former Barcelona striker establishing herself as the undisputed queen of African football.

While CAF controversially omitted Oshoala from the 2024 Player of the Year shortlist, her illustrious career and unmatched achievements speak for themselves.

In a social media post celebrating the continent's greatest stars, CAF paid tribute to Oshoala's remarkable consistency and dominance, even as other big names like Yaya Toure, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Victor Osimhen have come and gone.

"Stars come and go, but Asisat Oshoala remains," CAF wrote, accompanied by pictures of the Nigerian superstar alongside the aforementioned men’s past Player of the Year winners.

The Nigerian icon has proven time and time again that she is in a league of her own, setting the standard for all aspiring African women’s players to follow.

Oshoala's unmatched success and influence on the women's game across the continent have cemented her legacy as one of the greatest African footballers of all time.

While a new star will put an end to her hegemony this year, as the CAF post aptly stated, Oshoala's name will forever be in the annals of African football history.
