FKF unveil football awards date for 2023/2024 season crème de La crème
Top players in Kenyan football will be celebrated at FKF's Awards Gala with the event date now officially revealed.
Goalkeeper: Kevin Omondi
The goalkeeper kept 20 clean sheets last season to win the Golden Glove award and will likely retain his spot in the team because he offers Gor much more than saves.
His ability to play out from the back will impress new coach Neiva who is seeking to implement a possession-based style of football that requires a goalkeeper who is good with his feet.
Right-back: Rooney Onyango
The full-back has impressed in the last two seasons and will not have anyone challenging him for a starting berth.
Still young, Onyango offers Gor Mahia both defensive solidity and attacking threat which is an asset to the team.
Left-back: Levin Odhiambo
Signed from Tusker in the midseason, the full-back did not play for most of the second half of 2023-24 but is set to get a run in the team in the new campaign.

Shabana tie key midfielder to fresh terms after fending off Bandari interest
Shabana have confirmed the contract extension of midfielder Justin Omwando who was the team’s second highest scorer last season.
Like Rooney Onyango, Odhiambo is adept at both defence and attack and he will likely be preferred in Neiva’s system than Geoffrey ‘Simiti’ Ochieng.
Centre-back: Kennedy Onyango
Popularly known as Vidic, Onyango was one of the outstanding players for Gor last season and is set to take on an increased role again next season.
His reading of the game, good tackling, plus his ability in the air makes him one of the first-choice central defenders at Gor and will likely keep his spot in the starting XI.
Centre-back: Alphonce Omija
The 21-year-old has returned to Gor after a stint in Oman and should complement Onyango in defence.

Sam Ochola commits to major changes at Gor Mahia in bid for top seat
Preparations are underway as Sam Ochola announces his candidacy for Gor Mahia's top leadership role, committing to significant club transformations.
Omija’s experience at international level perhaps gives him an edge over his competitors with Gor set for CAF Champions League this season.
Central midfield: Kevin Juma
Kevin Juma slotted in straight into the team after joining Gor at the start of last season and edged out Ernest Wendo who had to contend with substitute appearances most of the time.
He will likely keep his spot in central midfield to continue shielding a defence that has been so mean in the last two seasons.
Central midfield: Enoch Morrison
Ghanaian Enoch Morrison has joined after stints with continental giants Asante Kotoko.
The midfielder has signed a two-year contract and will offer Gor Mahia both experience and quality in the middle of the pack, especially during continental assignments.
Attacking midfield: Chris Akena
With Austin Odhiambo angling for a transfer abroad, Ugandan midfielder Chris Akena becomes the man to fill his big boots if he leaves.

Jesse Were: Kenyan striker ends love affair with Zambian giants
Kenyan striker Jesse Were is looking for a new club after leaving Zambian side Zesco United who he has enjoyed great success with during two stints.
Akena has previously played for Al Rams Sports Club, a first division team in the United Arab Emirates, and that international experience will be required as K’Ogalo challenge on multiple fronts.
Right wing: Sharrif Musa
Another midseason signing, the former Bidco United winger will likely be given an opportunity to blossom down the right wing as he cuts in on his strong left foot.
Musa showed great quality last season as he linked up well with his attacking partners, creating opportunities for his team-mates, and more will be expected next season.
Left wing: Samuel Kapen
Speedy winger Samuel Kapen rejected a chance to extend his stay with Nairobi City Stars to join Gor Mahia and will bolster their attack.

Sofapaka explain why Robert Matano is the right man to lead their revival
Batoto Ba Mungu have appointed their former coach Robert Matano after last season’s struggles and they have given reasons why they feel he will bring back the glory years.
His pace and that of Musa on the flanks will give defenders a hard time and he is also good at scoring and creating goals which will reduce the burden on both Akena and Benson Omala.
Striker: Benson Omala
The league’s leading scorer last season is largely unchallenged and his numbers in the last two campaigns suggest he does not need replacing.
Omala will lead the line for Gor again even if Congolese striker Gedeon Bendeka has arrived and things will only change if he were to leave the club.
