The former Manchester United manager is no stranger to success and remains a winner even outside football
Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson continues to showcase his winning mentality even outside football.
Despite recently being sacked from his ambassadorial role at Manchester United, Ferguson’s passion for success remains unwavering as he triumphed in the world of horse racing, netting him and his syndicate a remarkable ₦992 million across a thrilling weekend.
A weekend of victories for Ferguson’s syndicate
The iconic manager’s weekend began in Bahrain, where Spirit Dancer, a horse bred at Ferguson’s Hemel Hempstead stud, clinched victory in the Bahrain International Trophy for the second consecutive year, earning a prize of £472,440.94.
The celebrations carried over to Cheltenham, where his horse Il Ridoto, trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by 18-year-old jockey Freddie Gingell, defied 10/1 odds to win the prestigious Paddy Power Gold Cup.
Ferguson’s syndicate also celebrated earlier successes, including L’Eau Du Sud’s commanding display in the Grade Two Arkle Trial.
Nicholls, the trainer, couldn’t help but commend Ferguson and his team, calling them “a brilliant squad” while hinting at even more success with other promising horses set to compete later in the season.
Fergie time extends to horse racing
Known for his relentless drive and perfectionism, Ferguson’s hunger for victory is evident in his horse racing pursuits.
Even at 82, his determination hasn’t waned, with his syndicate acquiring new prospects like Un Sens A La Vie for £180,000 at the Cheltenham November Sales.
Paul Nicholls and Dan Skelton, key figures in Ferguson’s racing team, praised his influence, noting that he’s as sharp and demanding as ever. “He’ll tell you when you’ve got it wrong,” Skelton quipped.
Despite setbacks at Manchester United, Ferguson’s ability to inspire and lead winning teams transcends football.
