Former England manager Gareth Southgate has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to English football, receiving a knighthood in the New Year Honours.
During his time in charge, Southgate achieved success, guiding England to back-to-back European Championship finals in 2021 and 2024.
Although both finals ended in defeat, to Italy and Spain respectively, he was praised for taking the Three Lions to greater heights and ushering a new wave of support for the team.
He also led England to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the quarter-finals of the 2022 tournament.
Southgate becomes the fourth England manager to receive a knighthood, joining an esteemed group that includes Alf Ramsey, Walter Winterbottom, and Bobby Robson.
