Sofapaka coach Ezekiel Akwana has termed Saturday’s Football Kenya Federation Premier League clash against Kenya Police a must-win as his side bid to get out of the bottom of the table.
Sofapaka, alongside AFC Leopards, are the only teams yet to taste victory this season with Batoto ba Mungu recording five defeats and one draw to remain with just one point after six matches.

Heading into match week seven, Sofapaka host resurgent Kenya Police at the Machakos Stadium on Saturday in what will be the first match to be hosted at the venue since 2020.
Akwana replaced Burundian Francis Harigingo who was sacked after the club failed to win their first five matches and suffered a 2-0 loss away to Murang’a Seal on his return to the dugout but the interim coach has vowed to disarm the law enforcers for Sofapaka’s first win of the season.

FKFPL Sofapaka overhaul technical team after dogged start to season
Sofapaka FC overhauls its technical team, hiring Ezekiel Akwana as assistant coach, amid concerns over their early-season performance in the Premier League.
“We have to win this match if we are to get ourselves from the bottom, we have had ample training time and morale is high at the camp hence we expect a win tomorrow (Saturday),” Akwana told the club’s website.
“My players are more than ready for the task ahead. We urge our fans to come and support at Kenyatta stadium,” he added.

Beating Police will not be a walk in the park, however, as they have won back-to-back matches since Croatian coach Zdravko Logarusic replaced Francis Baraza.
The former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards coach beat Nairobi City Stars 1-0 before brushing aside Bidco United 2-0 and given the expensively-assembled team at his disposal, Sofapaka have their world cut out.
