The midfielder has won his second Player of the Month award at Batoto ba Mungu after a very productive month of May.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Sofapaka FC have named Ben Stanely Omondi as the Player of the Month for May.

The attacking midfielder was in outstanding form across Batoto ba Mungu’s five matches, including an assist in their famous 1-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks.

Omondi saw off competition from Nigerian forward Sebastian Sunday, and new Harambee Stars call up Kevin Omondi to take the prize – voted by fans – for the second time this season.

The former Migori Youth star reclaimed the award from South Sudan international Jacob Adiss Panoam, who was crowned in April.

Omondi had won the award in March for his impressive showing, scoring two goals in the process.

In an earlier interview with Pulse Sports, he admitted he desired a Harambee Stars call-up to represent the country.

“I am confident that I can become a Harambee Stars player in the future. The coach told me the first time he saw me, saying he saw a lot of potential in me at such a young age,” he said.

“I was not called up in March because I was not on form and trying to get to grips with the top flight, but I believe if I become consistent, the call-up, even with the under 23s, will come.

His side Sofapaka is currently placed 12th on the league standings with 8 points with three matches remaining to the end of the season.

The Batoto ba Mungu will next take on AFC Leopards on Thursday at Nyayo National Stadium match as they continue fighting for a top-ten finish.
