Sofapaka have avoided raiding FKF Premier League rivals, opting to sign eight new players from lower league sides

Sofapaka have turned to lower league teams for reinforcements after confirming the signing of eight new players on Saturday.

Batoto ba Mungu, who brought in experienced former Gor Mahia and KCB coach, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno this month, steered clear of raiding FKF Premier League rivals with only centre-back Victor Odhiambo joining from Murang’a Seal.

Sofapaka have strengthened mainly in defence and midfield with defender Stallone Goal Asaba arriving from NSL side Kibera United as well as the pair of Nelson Likhanga and 24-year-old midfielder Finlay Sanduku, both from Mathare North FC.

Another midfielder signed by Sofapaka is 25-year-old Adan Dida Godana from ESEC Huruma as well as Rodgers Kipkemboi from Sunderland AFC Keroche.

Sofapaka have also brought in two goalkeepers, Victor Augo Akumu, 21, from Dandora Youth, and 29-year-old Levis Ochieng from Mathare United.

It is clear that Zico is keen to make his team hard to beat after struggling in the first half of this season.

Defence is Sofapaka’s main problem, having conceded 27 goals from 17 matches, the most in the FKF Premier League so far.

Most of the new signings have already been registered and will likely feature in Sofapaka’s league match against Tusker FC on Sunday.

Zico started his reign with a 3-0 win over Bidco United last weekend but he faces a formidable Tusker team who have won their last four matches and hammered KCB 5-0 last time out.
