Samson Olasofo was the center of attraction as Katsina United and Kano Pillar served an incredible northern derby in the Naija Super 8.

Katsina United have become the latest team to book a place in the Naija Super 8 after a hard-fought win over Kano Pillars.

Katsina sealed their ticket after a 1-0 win over Northern rivals Kano Pillars in an entertaining derby with Souley the main attention at the Eket Township Stadium on Sunday.

Souley moved from zero to hero in the second half to give the Chanji Boys a place amongst the elites in Lagos in a fortnight.

Souley redeems image vs Kano Pillars

In what was a dominant performance from Katsina, Pillars and their Northern rivals served a spectacle at the Eket pitch.

The Chanji Boys were the better of both teams and created the better chances but for large parts of the game seemed to arrived without their scoring boots.

Main man, Souley led the show and missed a bizarre sitter early in the second half after both sides played a goalless affair in the first 45 minutes.

The forward later atoned for his ridiculous miss when he fired home to decisive winner five minutes from home to give United a deserved bragging right.

With the victory, the superb Katsina United will rub shoulders with the big boys when they assemble for the main event later next month.

United will join seven other teams in the Super 8 slated for the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
