Kamaldeen Sulemana is set to sign for Southampton
Southampton are close to signing Ghanaian winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana from Rennes after having their bid accepted by the French club.
Southampton finally secure agreement with Rennes
Southampton’s bid for an initial €25m and add-ons up to €3m has been deemed sufficient by Rennes to allow their 21-year-old Ghanaian winger to move this window.
Sulemana will join Southampton on a four-and-a-half-year contract with the winger expected to join up with the squad ahead of their Premier League fixture against Brentford.
Southampton will be glad to finally have an agreement with Southampton, after having their initial bids for the player rejected.
Sulemana desperate to move for better playing time
Rennes were initially unwilling to let Sulemana leave after injury to other key wingers in the squad, but the player’s insistence on leaving forced their hand.
Sulemana has struggled with playing time at Rennes this season and this has been a major reason why the Ghanaian was desperate to leave France this January.
He has only started two matches in Ligue 1 this season, and only four matches in all competitions for Rennes.
His obvious talent means that he requires way more playing time as he looks to maximize his talent and he feels he can only get the game time outside Rennes.
