What Raphinha said
Speaking in a podcast with football legend Romario, the Barcelona star made a bold claim that they would f*ck” Argentina.
"We are going to beat them up on and off the pitch if necessary. I am going to score,” he said. “They can s*** themselves! In Argentina, you have to hit them; it hurts! They're b*******."
After their victory, Argentina players revealed that they saw Raphinha's comments and sent it to their group chat. The likes of Julian Alvarez and Enzo Fernandez revealed that they used the former Leeds star’s comment as fuel.

What Messi said
Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo de Paul said they decided to respond to Raphinha's comment on the pitch. A sentiment echoed by Messi.
In an Instagram post to commend his team for their victory against Brazil, Messi said, “Inside, outside, wherever it may be with this National Team. Always SPEAKING through football. Congratulations on the great match you played last night and also on the win against Uruguay.”
Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether Lionel Messi will be part of the Argentina squad for the World Cup next year, as he said he has yet to decide. Lionel Scaloni was asked about it after the victory over Brazil and he confirmed he was waiting for Messi to decide as well.
