A Nigerian athlete competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics has caused a stir on social media after being spotted looking uncannily like former Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette.

Edose Ibadin, who will represent Nigeria in the 800m track event, bears an ASTONISHING resemblance to the French forward, now the captain of his country's U23 side also competing in the football tournament at the Games.

Ligue 1 - France's top flight - couldn't believe their eyes when a picture of Ibadin racing surfaced online, joking: 'No matter the sport, Lacazette is fighting for medals all the way!'

The 31-year-old Ibadin made history as Nigeria's first 800m runner at the Olympics since the 1988 Seoul Games - a DREAM he's been chasing for TWELVE LONG YEARS since writing it down as a teenager.

And the Nigerian record holder couldn't be more thrilled after clocking a blistering 1:44.65 time back in July 30th 2023 to book his spot, edging within the qualifying window.

Meanwhile, Lacazette will be hoping to lead France's U23 side to gold in the football tournament, having featured in all their matches so far including a HARD-FOUGHT 3-1 win over Egypt in the semi-finals.

The similarities between the two athletes are UNCANNY - you'd be forgiven for thinking it was the former Gunner lining up on the track in Paris next summer!

Both individuals have since gone viral with social media agog since their pictures found it way to the platform.

“But look at him being mad cause he has to wear green,” one commenter stated on X, formerly Twitter.

“Lacazzette from IBADAN in Nigeria?” another stated while another added; “no chance this one stays up long.”
