The Portuguese side will play their first UEFA Champions League game since Ruben Amorim’s departure, taking on the Gunners, who are looking to go on a winning run. Here are predictions, team news, betting tips, and possible line-ups for the game.

Sporting CP, who famously thrashed Manchester City 4-1 earlier this month under the guidance of now-Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, face a tough test against Arsenal in the Champions League.

The Portuguese champions are yet to taste defeat in the competition after four matches, but they will be wary of Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side, who cruised to a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in their first match back after the international break.

While Arsenal are well placed in the UCL and on track to qualify for the knockout stages automatically, they suffered a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan in their last Champions League outing.

Sporting Lisbon vs. Arsenal Head to Head

Sporting CP have a poor record against Arsenal, failing to win any of their previous six meetings and drawing the last three.

Failure to win on Tuesday would extend Sporting’s winless streak against the Gunners to seven matches, the most that the Portuguese side would have faced an opponent in European competitions without winning.

However, Arsenal's European struggles in Portugal are well documented; they have won just one of 11 away European games against Portuguese teams (6D, 4L), but that win was against Sporting.

Sporting will be without key players Pote and Nuno Santos for their clash, but Geny Catamo and Maximiliano Araujo are both in contention to start in their absence.

Viktor Gyokeres, who has been linked with Arsenal, will lead the line, with the Swedish striker in red-hot form, having scored 17 goals in his last nine appearances for club and country.

Arsenal received a boost with the return of Riccardo Calafiori against Nottingham Forest, while Leandro Trossard overcame injury concerns to feature.

Kai Havertz and Declan Rice could return to the starting lineup after being unused substitutes over the weekend, while Martin Odegaard should make his first UCL start of the season.

However, Arsenal will be without Ben White, who is out for a few months following knee surgery, and Takehiro Tomiyasu remains unavailable, but Kieran Tierney has been included in the matchday squad.

Sporting CP vs. Arsenal Predictions & Betting Tips

The hosts have shown their strength this season with the statement win over City. However, Odegaard’s return has raised Arsenal’s game, and they are expected to be a bigger challenge for Sporting.

Bearing this in mind, we believe that this clash will end in a stalemate given the quality of both teams.
