The seventh edition of the Youth Games will feature 29 sports.
The Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare has labeled the seventh edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) Beacon of Hope.
Dare revealed in a letter to all states that the products of Youth Games have contributed to the growth and success of the country on the international scene.
The Minister said that this year’s edition will be bigger and better, as he encouraged all states to support their contingents to the Games.
He urged States to provide insurance covers for its contingents for the duration of the Games as part of the requirements for participation.
He said, “the NYG has become a beacon of hope for the future of our sports. Its product has been largely responsible for most of the recent successes the nation has witnessed at international sports competitions.”
Asaba to host 7th edition
The Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development confirmed that the Dennis Osadebay University Sports Complex, Asaba in Delta State will host the seventh edition.
The Ministry confirmed this in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga obtained by Pulse Sports Nigeria.
He said the Hosting Right was awarded to Delta state at a meeting of stakeholders for the Games, which was held on the sidelines of the recently concluded 21st National Sports Festival.
The Games will feature 29 sports which includes athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, chess, fives, scrabble, gymnastics, golf, shooting, swimming, badminton, hockey, para sports, squash, amongst others.
