We list the professional sports stars who have earned a Grammy nomination.

At times, the brilliance of a professional athlete extends far beyond their performance on the field. It's important to remember that athletes are often multi-talented individuals who excel in various aspects of life.

With the arrival of the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday night, it raises the question: How many sports icons have successfully ventured into the music industry's grandest stage? Here are four athletes who not only received Grammy nominations but also secured a couple of wins.

Oscar De La Hoya

From the boxing ring to the recording studio, Oscar De La Hoya, known as the "Golden Boy," showed the world his versatility by swapping his gloves for a microphone. In 2000, De La Hoya released a self-titled Latin pop album that surprised fans and critics alike, earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.

It's not every day that a world champion boxer becomes a recognised figure in the music industry, showcasing De La Hoya's unique blend of talent.

Bernie Williams

Bernie Williams, once a key player for the New York Yankees, capturing four World Series titles, found a second career in music that resonated just as strongly with his fans. His journey from the outfield to the stage is a testament to his profound musical talent.

Williams' album "Moving Forward" scored a nomination at the Latin Grammys in 2009 for Best Instrumental Album, proving that his skills weren't limited to just sports.

Magic Johnson

Magic Johnson, an NBA icon, took his talents from the court to the recording studio with a project that extended beyond sports and entertainment. His dedication to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS led to the creation of "What You Can Do to Avoid AIDS," an impactful audiobook that won him a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album in 1993.

Ali's Grammy nominations were a testament to his larger-than-life personality and his ability to captivate audiences beyond the boxing ring.
