Amus College’s perfect run in the East Africa Secondary School Games ground to a halt on Wednesday when they lost to Kenya’s Wiyeta Girls 2-1 in their final game of the group.
The Ugandans had registered three wins in as many matches and had already sealed their place in the semifinal before the match.
That means that the team can only finish second in the group and will wait to face the best side in group A which has Kawempe Muslim and holders St. Noa Girls in the lead.
Both Kawempe Muslim and St. Noa fluffed their chances that could have seen them seal their slots as they posted goalless draws on Wednesday.
Kawempe faces hosts Gatizo as St. Noa tussles Madira Girls in the other final group match, with both sides targeting at least a draw to go through.
Wednesday’s results;
Kawempe Muslim 0-0 GS Gatizo (Rw)
Madira Girls (Ke) 0-0 St. Noa Girls
Amus College 1-2 Wiyeta (Ke)
Thursday’s fixtures;
9 AM – St. Noa Girls vs Butere Girls (Ke)
1 PM – Kawempe Muslim vs Madira Girls (Ke)
