FOOTBALL Stanbic Uganda Cup: Ten Uganda Premier League teams storm the Round of 16

It is worth noting that the Big League, Uganda’s second tier division is only represented by the Cops.

The 2024 edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup has reached the Round of 16, with ten of the 16 StarTimes Uganda Premier League team booking their slots.

Holders Vipers SC lead the way, joint record champions KCCA FC and Express FC, and nine-time winners SC Villa are all involved.

Three-time champions URA FC, and BUL FC, who won it in 2022 and currently lead the UPL table standings are also in the equation.

It is set to be a fascinating Round of 16, Kitara FC who are second-placed in the UPL, and last year’s losing finalists Police FC who are leading proceedings in the BetPawa Big League in as well.

NEC FC, Soltilo Bright Stars FC, and Busoga United FC complete the puzzle for the UPL representative in the Round of 16.

It is worth noting that the Big League, Uganda’s second tier division is only represented by the Cops.

The other five slots were taken by teams from the Regional League, Dove FC, Iganga Young, Young Simba, Pakwach Young Stars, and Pajule Lions.

Surprisingly, Pakwach Young Stars eliminated UPL outfit Wakiso Giants FC thanks to a 2-1 win in Pakwach on Wednesday.
