The gaffer’s optimism came after sharing spoils with Sunshine stars in Akure on Thursday.
Rivers United Head coach Stanley Eguma is optimistic about winning the CAF Confederations Cup this season.
Eguma revealed this after his team shared spoils in Akure on matchday two of the Nigerian Professional football League (NPFL) clash with Sunshine stars.

Sunshine Stars forced Rivers United to a draw at the Akure township stadium, Ibrahim Yusuf converted a late penalty to level for the host after the visitor took the lead in the 23rd minute through an own goal.
The result now sees Rivers United maintain their position in the top 3, with Sunshine Stars rooted to 6th in Group B.
This game is preparing Rivers for continental games – Eguma
Eguma was delighted with the resumption of NPFL, saying the league matches will help his team to prepare for continental engagement.
The tactician added that his team needed the support of Nigerians to excel on the continent.
“This is a good game to prepare us for continental competition, the pitch didn’t allow us to play, and the players are complaining of hard turf and stones.
“We have everything to win the CAF confederations cup, all we needed is that Nigerians should support us,” he said after the Sunshine clash
Rivers United begins CAF Confederations Cup campaign Feb. 12
Rivers United will play their first match on February 12, an away game against Diables Noirs.
The Pride of Rivers is drawn in Group B will alongside Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas, DR Congo's Motema Pembe, and the Republic of Congo's Diables Noirs.
