Arsenal icon and Bayer Leverkusen star Granit Xhaka has backed teammate Victor Boniface to find his scoring boots for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka has expressed support for teammate, Victor Boniface, who has come under criticism for struggling to replicate his club form for Nigeria.
Boniface has been hammered by fans for scoring regularly for his Bundesliga club while putting in underwhelming performances for Nigeria.
Despite failing to score a single goal for the Super Eagles in 11 appearances, Xhaka believes Boniface has the potential to become lead the nation's attack for years to come.

Xhaka backs Boniface to shine for Nigeria
In an interview with OmaSports TV, Xhaka acknowledged the challenges of adapting to international football:
"It's always difficult because you don't have a lot of time to adapt, enough time to work through the tactical setup every day with the same coach, and same players, but, everyone wants to play for their country."
Xhaka, who plays with Boniface at Leverkusen, offered words of encouragement:
"He's important for us, and for sure, he'll be important for Nigeria in the future.
"Stay calm because he's a great guy and a great footballer."
Boniface is currently recovering from an injury sustained during international duty.
