"What had happened in our club here; fans were on their own; they were only with the players when the team was winning," Mubiru noted.

KCCA FC endured one of their worst Uganda Premier League first rounds in ages, finishing ninth with 19 points after 15 matches.

For weeks and months, they languished in the relegation zone and failed to master victory in their first five games.

KCCA lost eight games in just 15 matches, winning just six and drawing the other, much to the boiling frustration of their faithful.

Many turned against the team, the administrators, coaches and players, while others cursed and cast insults during match days.

Fortunes have since turned under new tactician Abdallah Mubiru, who has underlined his own frustrations to the fans for not sticking with the team in the good and bad.

"Let the fans come and support us with a positive spirit," Mubiru told the club media before educating:

"Whatever happened to us in the first round was a lesson. A team means a group of people who work together with the same goal."

"What had happened in our club here; fans were on their own; they were only with the players when the team was winning," Mubiru noted.

"When the team was losing, they started abusing players. That's not a team. We should win together as a unit and lose together."

"Don't pinpoint someone for mistakes. And if we didn't learn, that's unfortunate, but everyone involved at KCCA and their contribution is important to the success of the team. These players need the support," he added.

Meanwhile, KCCA opens the second round with a home tie against leaders BUL FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Friday.

"The second round is more challenging and competitive than the first.  So expect it to be that given the situation we are in," said Mubiru.

"But we have prepared well both mentally and physically, and we're ready to out-compete our opponents."

"We're going to do whatever it takes to try to perform better every time we come to the pitch. And whatever they'll (the fans) see will be our best."

BUL edged KCCA 1-0 in the first half of the campaign at the FUFA Technical Center,  Njeru, thanks to Nicholas Mwere.
