Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has recognised Nigeria’s 1980 Africa Cup of Nations-winning team and the love for their signature green and white colour jersey.

The NFF commemorated Nigeria's three continental triumphs in 1980, 1994, and 2013 and paid tribute to the players who contributed to the nation's rich football heritage.

Nigeria secured its first-ever AFCON title in 1980, when the Super Eagles, then known as the Green Eagles, triumphed on home soil.

The final was played at the National Stadium in Lagos, where Odegbami scored twice and Muda Lawal added another to secure a 3-0 victory over Algeria.

Olise wrote on X, "This team was hugely responsible for my love of the Super Eagles green white green colours; Odegbami, Chukwu, Okala, Atuegbu, Muda Lawal, Nwosu, Owo Blow... They all had technical prowess, strength, and style. Naija sabi, do things with style, sha!"

Oliseh, who is a key player in Nigeria's second AFCON triumph in 1994, has frequently acknowledged the influence of previous generations on his career.
