With defending champions Bayelsa United already eliminated, the 2023 edition will produce a new winner from the pool of quarterfinalists.

Sunday will see the quarterfinals of the 78th edition of Nigeria's Federation Cup, get underway with seven Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sides and one Nigeria National League (NNL) team, attempting to move two steps closer to becoming the nation's men's cup champion.

With defending champions Bayelsa United already eliminated, the 2023 edition will produce a new winner from the pool of quarterfinalists.

4 former champions in quarterfinals

In the quarterfinal stage of the competition include six-time cup champions Rangers, three-time winners Bendel Insurance, 2003 winners Lobi Stars as well as 1999 champions Plateau United.

Other teams include 2013 runners-up Warri Wolves, and the trio of Sunshine Stars, Doma United and Kwara United, all of who are seeking to make their first final.

Quarterfinals of the competition will hold in four venues across on Sunday, May 28, with the semifinal matches to take place on Wednesday, May, 31.
