Leaders of the Nigeria Premier Football League, Remo Stars, have extended their gap at the top of the table to 12 points after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Plateau United in Ikenne on Sunday.

Samson Olasupo's 74th-minute strike was enough to secure all three points for the Sky Blues in their quest for their first-ever league title.

Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede praised his players for digging deep to secure the win, acknowledging the difficulty of the match.

"The lesser the games, the tougher it becomes," he stated.
He continued, "I expected the game to be tough, considering the league positions of the teams coming to face us. Plateau United are a very good side, and they don’t want to be relegated, which was evident in their performance tonight."
Ogunmodede also pointed to fatigue as a key factor in the team’s performance.
"Fatigue is a considerable factor in our performance today, and that's why I need to give big kudos to the players for fighting relentlessly.
