Salernitana confirms the arrival of giant Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong.
Super Eagles of Nigeria of Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong has joined Serie A side Salernitana.
Salernitana confirmed the arrival of Troost-Ekong on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
Troost-Ekong takes a step up from the English Championship to the Italian first division.

Salernitana posted photos of Ekong on their official social media platform to confirm his arrival.

A message about the Super Eagles vice-captain on the official website said, "US Salernitana 1919 communicates that it has reached an agreement with Watford FC for the temporary transfer with the right to buy the defender born in '93 William Troost-Ekong."
It was also confirmed that Ekong will wear the number 15 shirt following his switch to Salernitana.

Ekong in a separate post expressed his motivation to play for Salernitana.
Along with the photos was a message that said, "Hello Salerno! Very happy to be here. Let's go!!!
“I'm happy to have arrived at Salernitana. I want to help conquer salvation.”
Ekong is expected to be available for selection when Salernitana takes on Lecce in their next Serie A fixture scheduled for Friday, January 27, 2023.
