Samuel Chukwueze was spotted in the stands as Villarreal lost to Real Betis
AC Milan forward Samuel Chukwueze was spotted celebrating his former side Villarreal as they opened their 2023/24 LaLiga campaign against Real Betis with a 2-1 loss.
Chukwueze returns to Villarreal
The Yellow Submarines agreed on a deal worth €20 million with AC Milan to sell the Nigerian forward, but clearly still have a place in Chukwueze’s heart after his heartfelt gesture of opening the new season with his old side.
The 24-year-old forward, who was part of the AC Milan side that decimated Novara in a pre-season friendly just hours before Villarreal took on Real Betis, still made out time to watch his old side play against Real Betis.
Chukwueze was impressive on his unofficial AC Milan debut, scoring for the Rossoneri in a 4-2 victory, giving fans of the club something to dream about with his superb performance.
Chukwueze spotted at La Ceramica
Even after the Super Eagles forward’s taxing effort against Novara, Chukwueze was still able to make it to Villarreal’s game against Real Betis on the same day and was spotted at Estadio de la Ceramica giving moral support to his former side.
Chukwueze has never shied away from his special affiliation with Villarreal, after joining the Spanish side from Diamond Academy in Nigeria following an impressive showing at the 2015 U17 World Cup.
The winger honed his skills at the Valencia side for six years, before becoming one of the most talked about wingers in LaLiga in his final season with Villarreal, where he scored and assisted in double digits in all competitions for the first time in his career before moving to AC Milan.
