New Sevilla signing Kelechi Iheanacho has spoken for the first time since joining the seven-time UEFA Europa League champions Sevilla.

“The last 24 hours have been stressful, but I needed to do things quickly. I’m very excited and happy to come to this club. There were offers from many clubs. But, I was very clear about coming here.”

The Nigerian forward also revealed that he was eager to begin his journey with Sevilla and contribute to the team’s success, adding “I just want to play with my heart and leave everything out there on the pitch, 100% every game. Hopefully, we can achieve success together. I can’t wait to get started,”

Iheanacho set for new chapter with Sevilla

Iheanacho, who rose through Manchester City’s youth system, moved to Leicester in 2017 to seek more first-team opportunities.

During his five seasons with the Foxes, he netted 30 Premier League goals before signing a contract with Sevilla until 2026, with an option to extend for an additional year.

Sevilla’s pre-season preparations include two friendlies in England next week, providing an opportunity for Iheanacho to regain his sharpness and integrate with his new teammates.

The club's fans and management are hopeful that the Nigerian striker will fill the void left by Rafa Mir and Youseff En-Nesyri who left Sevilla to join Valencia and Fenerbahce this summer.
