As the football world eagerly awaits the award ceremony on December 16 in Morocco, Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh has heaped praise on Lookman, describing him as one of the best in his position globally.
Oliseh highlights Lookman’s exceptional skills
Speaking on News Central TV, Sunday Oliseh expressed his admiration for the 27-year-old forward, saying, “Ademola Lookman is a great player.

“Why I find Lookman to be a great player is because I'm looking at the qualities, the characteristics that are needed to play the position Lookman plays and how he executes them.
“He doesn't execute them at five out of ten, he doesn't execute them at six out of ten, he executes most of them at 7.5, 8 out of ten, so that's why I say he's a great player.”
Oliseh also cited Lookman’s decisive role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph as a testament to his greatness, concluding, “I am calling him great because he played at the Europa League final; he did not only just play; he was decisive in winning the Europa League final.
“That is not what a good player does; that's what a great player does.”
Lookman eyeing 2024 CAF POTY award
Lookman’s stellar form for club and country has earned him a spot on the five-man shortlist for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award, which was recently trimmed from ten nominees.

His performances for Atalanta in the Serie A and Europa League last season and for Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have made him the leading contender to claim the prestigious title.
Lookman finished the 2023/24 season with 17 goals and 10 assists and has already started the new campaign with nine goals and five assists in 15 games, as well as finishing as Nigeria’s top scorer in 2025 AFCON qualifying.
