Former Super Eagles defender Taribo West revealed inside details on PSG's transfer strategy for Ademola Lookman.

Super Eagles legend Taribo West has revealed that a reason PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi came to the CAF Awards was to discuss a possible transfer with Ademola Lookman.

West, now 50, and since retired, played a chunk of his career in Ligue 1 with Auxerre. He said he had sources in France working closely with the champions and was informed of PSG’s plans for Lookman.

What Taribo said

PSG made a failed move for the Nigerian last summer, as despite reaching an agreement on wages, they couldn't meet Atalanta's demands in transfer fees.

They are expected to return for the Nigerian at a future date, as Luis Enrique wants a forward that can play across the front line and not just centrally, and West claims Al-Khelaifi’s presence in Morocco was to facilitate a move for Lookman.

The PSG president was part of Achraf Hakimi’s entourage, and he came to show support to the PSG right back, who lost the CAF POTY to a Nigerian for the second year in a row.

West told Brillia that supporting the Morrocan was only half of the purpose of Al-Khelaifi’s trip, revealing a grander objective concerning the CAF POTY.

“It’s a wonderful feat and a great compensation for the AFCON he didn’t win,” West congratulated Lookman, per Brila.

“An insider has told me PSG’s interest in Lookman is strong. The presence of the club president at the CAF Awards last night wasn’t just for Hakimi. Ademola Lookman is on PSG’s list.

“The person I know in Paris called me to convince him to come to PSG. The president attending the ceremony was not only for Hakimi but also for Lookman.”
