Nigeria wins AFCON in 1980
The 1980 AFCON was the 12th edition of the tournament and Nigeria, as the host nation, entered the competition with high expectations.

Led by iconic captain, Christian Chukwu, the team included Segun Odegbami, Emmanuel Okala, and Muda Lawal, whose contributions on the pitch were vital.
In the group stage, Nigeria finished top of Group A with victories over Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, alongside a draw against Tanzania.
