Victor Boniface has commended his Super Eagles teammate and friend Victor Osimhen following his heroic display for Galatasaray against Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup.

In a night of high drama, Victor Osimhen delivered a performance for the ages, powering Galatasaray past Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup quarterfinals. 

The Nigerian striker’s heroics secured a semifinal spot for his team and earned him glowing praise from Super Eagles teammate Victor Boniface.

The Istanbul derby, a clash steeped in rivalry, saw Osimhen emerge as the undisputed star. 

The 26-year-old wasted no time stamping his authority on the game, opening the scoring in the 10th minute with a clinical finish that set the tone for Galatasaray’s dominance.

He wasn’t done there. 17 minutes later, Osimhen struck again, doubling his tally from the spot to give Galatasaray a comfortable lead. 

Fenerbahce were reeling, and Mourinho’s men found themselves on the brink of elimination.

Though Fenerbahce clawed one back before halftime, the second half turned into a cauldron of intensity. 

Tempers flared as Osimhen found himself at the heart of a skirmish, sparking a full-blown melee between the two squads.

The referee briefly halted play as chaos ensued, eventually brandishing red cards to Galatasaray’s Kerem Demirbay and Yilmaz, as well as Fenerbahce’s Hakan Yandas.

Despite being reduced in numbers, Galatasaray stood resolute, repelling Fenerbahce’s desperate attempts to equalise.

Osimhen’s first-half brace proved decisive, knocking Mourinho’s side out of the competition and cementing his reputation as a clutch performer in one of Turkey’s fiercest rivalries. 

The victory marked a winning first start for Osimhen in the Turkish Cup, taking his goal tally to an impressive 31 for club and country this season.

Celebrating the win on Instagram, Osimhen received a flood of plaudits, none more notable than from his friend and national teammate Boniface. 

Osimhen has now scored 31 goals across competitions for club and country.

Commenting on Osimhen’s victory post, Boniface wrote, “The best ever,” a reminder of the striker’s growing legend.

For Fenerbahce and Mourinho, it’s back to the drawing board after a nightmarish exit orchestrated by Nigeria’s finest Osimhen, whose masterclass will linger long in the memory.
