Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has been named August Player of the Month after an impressive start to the season.

Moses Simon began the new season off a long injury layoff that saw him miss the second half of last season for Nantes.

However, his return to the French side came with a massive turnaround as he began the new season in form.

The winger has now been given the award for the best Nantes player in the month of August.

On their official website, Nantes revealed Simon's accomplishment, stating, “You have designated Moses Simon, scorer against AJ Auxerre and on the Mosson pitch in Montpellier, as the ‘Canary of the Month’ for August 2024!”

The 28-year-old forward finished ahead of teammates Nathan Zézé, Alban Lafont, and Matthis Abline with 43% of the fan vote.

Simon will formally receive his award on Sunday, September 15, 2024, before Nantes home game against Stade de Reims.

The Super Eagles star has been playing fantastically since his comeback, scoring two goals in three league games in August against Auxerre and Montpellier.

Simon has now returned to the Super Eagles team as he looks to help the national team in their AFCON qualifiers.

Nigeria will be hoping to exact revenge for their June 2-1 loss to Benin and launch a successful AFCON qualifying campaign now that Simon is back in the lineup.
