The 24-year-old has had a transformative last couple of years, and her importance for club and country has spiked. With the Super Falcons, she is now the most dangerous attacking talent in the side, as the mantle shifted from Asisat Oshoala.
She has also stood in as captain of the Nigerian women's national team in recent games, including at the Olympics in France, underscoring both her ascension and current level.
Last season, she was Atletico Madrid’s best player and her performance was recognised with the club's Player of the Season award.
She scored 10 goals and provided six assists in the league last season, a tally she is on course to obliterate, given her current trajectory.
Last month, Ajibade went on a rampage. She scored five goals and provided two assists, which included a hat-trick in the Derby against Madrid CFF.
Her performance in that duration has earned her the POTM, and she beat the likes of Barcelona's new Polish striker Ewa Pajor, Real Madrid's Caroline Weir, Athletic Club’s Berea Nevado and Levante Badalona’s Maria Llompart to the gong.
